The last workshop of the network will examine a central aspect of the research and practice of internet lexicography, namely what kind of presentation of word entries, the headword list, notes on how to use the dictionary, supporting notes, etc. is suitable for the internet. Also of interest in this context are the layout of pages containing lexicographical information, the presentation of search options, and the use of colour, animation and multimedia elements. Another question is whether the layout of online dictionaries should follow that of printed dictionaries. Our overall aim will therefore be to answer the question of how the ‚hypertext dictionary‘ can be structured in such a way that users can navigate their way round it successfully, and how lexicographical information and networking can be presented in an online dictionary so as to enable words to be looked up successfully (Almind 2005; Oppentocht / Schutz 2003; Spohr 2008).

On this occasion, it is not only lexicographers and metalexicographers who will have the opportunity to speak, but also usability experts. In contributions on as many different online dictionaries as possible, the spectrum of possibilities for the layout of an online dictionary will become apparent, and the advantages and disadvantages of each style of presentation will be discussed. By looking back on various other workshops (on research into dictionary use, user-adaptive access and the lexicographical process), we aim to answer the question of what form the involvement of users should take.
